I can’t believe that I’m turning 35 tomorrow. How did life go by so fast? To be honest my life is nothing like I expected at 35 but on the other hand if theres something I’ve learned then it’s that you can really never plan for things to happen. Plans will always turn out completely differently. I’ve had some really high highs and low lows the past year but I look forward to the second half of my 30’s. I’ve had a blast so far and trying to summarise my life up until now would be impossible.
One thing I reflected over was the fact that I miss being creative. I can’t remember exactly when I started my first blog, I can see posts all they way from 2009 so perhaps somewhere around there? I wonder if that’s the time when I had my “travel blog”, I called it Maailmamatkaa (World travel translated from Finnish). I thought I was so cool and loved to travel already at that time. The blog has had a few iterations and peaked at around 6000 monthly readers if I remember correctly. There’s one famous post with 500 comments. I managed to upset a few people with a post about cyclists, it got reposted and then the comments had a life of their own in the blog.
Speaking about travels I’ve managed to visit 36 countries so far. I’m sure there’s many more to come and at least one ski trip in the upcoming year. I still have the standard vacation spots like Greece and Portugal to visit but I’m actually more tempted to do something more exotic like hiking in Rwanda or travel around in Madagascar and watch lemurs in the wild. So for all the crazy things I’ve done, here’s to 35 more wild years, filled with tears, laughter and endless adventures!
